reduce brain inflammation, oxidative stress, and normalize a child’s brain-body
chemistry. Topics include information on distinctive biochemical imbalances

significant nutrient deficiencies and overloads. Genetics, epigenetics and
environment will be discussed including gastrointestinal (GI) tract issues such
as malabsorption, food sensitivities, and yeast overgrowth.

Bio-Nutrient Therapy: An Evidence-Based Model for Autism Recovery
Advanced nutrient therapy can significantly improve cognition, speech, and socialization in a child on the autism spectrum. Drs. Mensah and Bowman will share their clinical experience applying evidence-based protocols in their medical practice. Topics include gastrointestinal (GI) tract issues such as malabsorption, food sensitivities, and yeast overgrowth. Individual patient case studies will be used to explain biochemical evaluation, individualized treatment approaches, and outcomes.
William J. Walsh, PhD, of the Walsh Research Institute, will present Methylation, Epigenetics and Mental Health and Exploring the Mysteries of Autism
There is growing evidence that autism is a gene-regulation disorder involving inborn predisposition followed by one or more environmental insults. Dominant factors include methylation, oxidative stress, and epigenetics. This model provides an explanation for (a) the autism regression event, (b) the persistence of autism after onset, and (c) the multitude of classic symptoms and traits. Dr. Walsh’s presentation will include description of brain-directed therapies aimed at improved cognition, speech, and socialization, along with recent research findings and promising epigenetics approaches for autism prevention and treatment.

MTHFR and Mental Health: Understanding The Overall Effect of Individual Genetic Mutations (SNPs) Date: Thursday, August 21, 2014 Time: 7 p.m. CST, 8 p.m. EST, 6 p.m. MST, 5 p.m. PST
Methylation is a biochemical process responsible for dozens of chemical reactions in the body and the brain. Not only is it essential to physical and mental health, but also influences an individual’s characteristics and traits. For example, undermethylation is associated with perfectionism, high accomplishment, OCD tendencies, and seasonal allergies. Persons who are overmethylated have a tendency to have excellent social skills, artistic or musical abilities, chemical and food sensitivities, and high anxiety. Severe methylation imbalances can also contribute to serious mental health disorders.
The popular genetic testing for MTHFR, MS, and other SNPs, are qualitative in nature but are limited in their ability to accurately determine the overall effect of individual genetic mutations. Learn how overall methylation status is critical for the treatment of autism, anxiety, behavioral/learning disorders, depression, bipolar, eating disorders, and schizophrenia.

Join Abert Mensah, MD, as he debunks the common myths surrounding pyrrole disorder or pyroluria (also known as the “Mauve Factor”). About 10% of the population is unknowingly affected by this condition, and is commonly found in individuals with anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, alcoholism, ODD, and ADHD. Discover how pyrrole disorder can be easily diagnosed and treated by restoring the body with necessary nutrients.
